Advocating for You and Building Community

We are halfway through the term of our first collective agreement, and will enter into negotiations again in early 2024. The stewards and Board have spent much of the last year advocating for enhanced wages, both with hospital management as well as the OHA. OPAA has also been closely monitoring the Bill-124 proceedings and outcomes to ensure that PAs are included in any compensation-related decisions that hospitals are making in regard to retroactive pay. Stewards have also participated in labour relations training and putting those skills to work to advocate for individual members as they navigate various workplace challenges.

This year, the OPAA Board is focused on growing our membership, and getting to know our members. We desire to build a community of likeminded professionals that are both passionate about the work we do and about ensuring we are compensated and treated fairly, as we perform work that is increasingly vital to Ontario’s healthcare system. Where possible, we intend to do this in collaboration with our hospitals and physicians, in order to promote cooperation and positive workplace environments where all can thrive.
